It’s that time of year again. A new and healthier lifestyle might be just what you’re after to reinforce a positive change in your life. There are numerous crash diets and work-out routines to explore, but one thing is certain, you have to eat! Introducing super foods into your diet can be highly beneficial to staying full and getting all the nutrients you need on a daily basis. Here’s a list of the ones you should pick up next time you’re at the grocery store.

Maca Powder

Grown in Peru, this powder is comprised of root vegetable in the radish family. Known to increase mood,  energy, and libido, this powder can be a great addition to many healthy home recipes. It’s important to note that the powder cannot be added to anything hot because it will lose many of it’s wonderful benefits. I personally like to add it to smoothies as it sits very well with the other flavors.

Goji Berries

These raisin-like dried berries are jam packed with Vitamin C. Through the centuries they have been used to help blood circulation and improve immune system function. The antioxidants found in Goji berries are also a great addition to your new health regimen. While you can chew these and eat them as a snack, I personally like to add them to my smoothies, similarly to the Maca Powder.

It seems like Avocados have taken over the world. Perhaps the obsession spawned with the rising popularity of Mexican chain restaurants like Chipotle. Regardless how you feel about this bumpy-green, pear-like fruit, one this is for sure. Avocados are jam packed with tons of yummy nutrients and carry an abundance of fiber and potassium. Who doesn’t love a little guacamole on the side?

This one may comes as a surprise when you think about just how common blueberries are. Nothing compares to the antioxidant power of these little, delicious treats. This is another super food on our list that is loaded in fiber. A couple of handfuls a day will greatly improve your digestive functions and lead to smoother bowel movements. So next time you’re at the grocery store, consider adding some of these to your cart.

We’re closing our list off with a staple super-food. Kale is truly a mother load of nutrients and antioxidants. Many vegetarians and vegans will find their main source of protein within Kale. This is also where you’ll find the most dense source of Vitamin K, which helps the blood clotting process within the body. We’ll be the first to admit that it isn’t the tastiest option to add to your diet, but certainly one of the healthiest.
